Struggling on
My last post was mostly about my illnesses and injuries.
I did some decent bike training during December; due to my left leg I stayed off running. I tried to compensate for the lack of running by walking uphill, which I can do, and it works for zone 2 endurance training. I also spent a lot of time in the gym doing strength and yoga which definitely gave some results. Unfortunately, my regular pool closed temporarily, so I did not get much swim training.
Over Christmas, I was in Toronto with family. A stationary bike gave me some really good Zwift workouts, and I traveled to a cross-country track and got 2 days of skiing in, almost 25 miles. I did not catch flu or a cold on the flights!
Instead, I caught a cold at home. My husband got it on the same day too. After 5 days, he was fine. Despite resting, I went into a secondary nasty chest infection that I am now dealing with. No training for another week. World Championship in winter triathlon is definitely out of the window. Just trying to recover so I can go to Lake Placid in February for nationals in winter triathlon.
My Strava fitness points are dipping again, it will be another year of lowered expectations.
It is still fun.
When I am healthy.
